Sharing a desire to dive deeply into the wind quintet repertoire, Ashley Cho (flute), Cort Roberts (horn), Kyle Olsen (bassoon), Na Yoon Kim (clarinet), and I formed the SOOM Quintet.

We adopted the name Soom—a word that means breath in Korean—to capture the essence of life through music.

While we met at Juilliard, our sound reflects something more about us—our diverse experience from Berlin, Lisbon, Osaka, Quebec, Sapporo, Sonora, Stuttgart, and Vienna that breathe life into who we are as unique musicians, that empower us to create music that embraces all.
